In addition to the impact on the child, child abuse and neglect has profound, broad implications on communities. estimated the total lifetime costs associated with just the substantiated cases of child maltreatment in 2020 was approximately $428 billion.

Our goal as researchers are to use a variety of approaches to reduce childhood adversity and maltreatment. Our strategies include educational content, research and community/family support.
