Current Outcomes Research

Our researchers are committed to understanding health outcomes of children who have been involved in the child welfare system. The goal of our outcomes research is to discover ways to reduce child abuse and neglect through a longitudinal lens.

  • This study is looking at child welfare services outcomes of young children who test positive for illicit drugs. Our goal is to better understand the needs of families experiencing addiction and substance use disorder. The study can be found HERE.

  • This study is looking at a cohort of children with complex care conditions and reports to child welfare services. The goal is to identify areas in which families of children with these conditions need support to prevent referrals. This research was epresented in abstract form at the 2024 UCSD Research Symposium.

  • This study is looking at health care utilization in infants after there has been a report to child welfare services. The goal is to understand if they have higher health care needs and the type of care they are utilizing. The results of this study can be found HERE.
